Executive functioning refers to the set of skills needed to control our thoughts, regulate our behavior, and stay organized. Students may display difficulty with time management, study skills, planning, and organization. We offer executive functioning coaching using personalized plans and precise instruction. Students are guided to become in control of their activities, instead of their activities controlling them. More organization and predictability leads to less anxiety and more positive production in and out of the classroom. Services are recommended for students in grades 4 and up.
At Engage the Brain we use various techniques and study strategies. We frequently use Executive Functioning guru, Marydee Sklar, author of 50 Tips to Help Your Student Succeed and the Seeing My Time curriculum, as a resource.
